Redevelopment
CAMH is making history. We're building a new kind of hospital – the first of its kind in the world – where being part of the community is part of the treatment. Our 27-acre site has been radically redeveloped to fully integrate with the community. New treatment facilities house innovative programs and light-filled client-focused spaces, to mesh with Toronto’s vibrant Queen West neighbourhood via tree-lined roads, sidewalks, and public green space – and eventually, shops, residences and offices.
Over nine city blocks in the heart of Toronto, the hospital will open up to the community with a whole new model of care. The first four buildings – in-patient care for mood and anxiety disorders and addictions – opened in 2008 and the next phase of three buildings opened in 2012.
